About GoBored.work
Our Origin Story
GoBored.work was conceived during a particularly dense period of professional examination preparation by a student in their final year of a combined psychology and law programme. Somewhere between annotating a lengthy judgment and reviewing cognitive load theory for the fourth consecutive evening, the idea crystallised: what if "looking busy" could be gamified?
The first version — three games and a Fake Boss Key — took a single weekend to build and was shared quietly among a study group as a pressure-valve between revision sessions. The response was immediate. Within days, fellow students, then friends in corporate environments, were requesting features. The project quietly grew.
The Stealth Productivity Thesis
Research in cognitive psychology identifies "attentional restoration" as a genuine biological need: the brain requires periodic disengagement from effortful tasks to sustain performance. GoBored.work operationalises this under the framework of Stealth Productivity™ — a satirical construct in which recreational micro-engagements are visually indistinguishable from high-value enterprise workflows.
Put simply: the games look like the software your employer already expects you to be using. The psychological benefit is real. The productivity theatre is the product.
Platform Design Philosophy
Every interface element was deliberately designed to evoke generic enterprise software without copying any specific brand. Names like "MailFlow," "DataGrid," and "TeamTalk" are original creations. The VS Code–style shell, the spreadsheet aesthetic, the email client layout — these are archetypes, not copies. The satire is in the recognition, not the replication.
What We Are (And Are Not)
GoBored.work is a parody and entertainment platform operated by an independent developer. It is not affiliated with any corporation, employer, software vendor, or educational institution. It does not collect personal data beyond what is necessary to serve advertisements. It is not responsible for your career decisions.
Advertising
This site is supported by display advertising via Google AdSense. Ad placements are clearly delineated as "Sponsored Content" and are positioned to comply with Google's Publisher Policies. If you find value in GoBored.work and prefer an ad-free experience, we'd ask you to keep the tab open for an extra few minutes. That's honestly enough.
Contact & Feedback
Feature requests, bug reports, and philosophical objections to corporate buzzwords can all be directed to our general contact channel. Response times are optimistic but not guaranteed, as the developer is presumably also procrastinating.

2. Parody and Satire Disclaimer
GoBored.work is a work of satire and parody. All games, interfaces, fictional organisations, buzzwords, email subject lines, and corporate communications depicted on this site are original creative content for entertainment purposes. They do not represent any real organisation, individual, product, or employer. 3. "As-Is" Service Provision
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or available at any particular time — particularly the exact moment you most urgently need it.
4. Boss Key — No Warranty
THE "BOSS KEY" FEATURE IS PROVIDED ON A STRICTLY "AS-IS" BASIS. WE MAKE NO WARRANTY, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, THAT:
- The Boss Key will activate quickly enough to prevent detection;
- The System Diagnostic screen will be mistaken for legitimate work activity by any supervisor, HR representative, manager, or anyone else with line-of-sight to your screen;
- The use of the Boss Key will prevent any disciplinary consequence, formal warning, performance improvement plan, restructuring, or involuntary career transition;
- The Boss Key will function on your specific device, browser, or keyboard configuration;
- The aesthetic of the Boss Key screen is current, convincing, or appropriate to your workplace's technology stack.
USE OF THE BOSS KEY IS ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK. The developer assumes no liability whatsoever for the consequences of Boss Key deployment or failure to deploy.
5. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, GOBORED.WORK AND ITS INDEPENDENT DEVELOPER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO: loss of employment; loss of income; workplace disciplinary action; reputational harm; damage to professional relationships; psychic distress caused by recognising yourself too precisely in the parody content; or any claim arising out of your use of or inability to use the Service.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service in a manner that: (a) violates applicable laws; (b) jeopardises public safety; (c) involves redistributing our original content without attribution; or (d) causes you to miss a genuinely critical deadline. GoBored.work cannot ethically condone the procrastination of safety-critical tasks, however compelling the Inbox Purge leaderboard may be.
7. Intellectual Property
All original content on GoBored.work — including but not limited to game logic, interface designs, satirical text, buzzword systems, fictional email subject lines, and legal documents written in self-aware corporate parody — is the intellectual property of the independent developer. You may not reproduce or redistribute this content without attribution.
8. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by the applicable laws of the jurisdiction in which the developer is resident, which we decline to specify on grounds of privacy. Any disputes shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation, and failing that, through whatever formal mechanism is least disruptive to everyone's schedules.
9. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
10. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance. We acknowledge the irony of including a "changes to terms" clause in a document about corporate parody and have chosen to include it anyway.
